Tokyo Police Club is a four piece from Newmarket, Ontario. The Rolling Stone describes them as the best "neo-punk post-anti-rock (circa 73) since the Pavement (Matador Records) reissue of Wowee Zowee."
I would disagree for the simple reason that you can use the basic good indie band recipe to cook up a batch of Tokyo Police Club- A Lesson in Crime.
1 cup of singer with a quirky yet strangely pleasing voice
2 ounces of raw, quality bass sound
1 1/2 tablespoons of repetitive guitar riffs
a dash of nerdy metaphors
combine in a large bowl till you hear a clapping rhythm
Bake at 350 degrees for 16.3 minutes. Remove from oven and cut into seven slices.
Give one slice a french name.
This can be used to describe so many delightful indie bands and Tokyo Police Clubs debut EP fits right in. The album is excellent but is not anthing original. Just another indie gem.
